Dr Simon Meagher

OB Australia - First Trimester Fetal Malformation

Saturday 25th November to Sunday 26th November 2017

Join Dr Simon Meagher and his team at Monash Ultrasound for Women for a 1.5-day dynamic interactive workshop in Obstetric ultrasound – OB Australia – First Trimester Fetal Malformation”. Over 1000 video clips of fetal malformation across 8-14 weeks of gestation will be presented over the 1.5 days and will address the basic and advanced approach to the sonographic diagnosis of major and minor fetal malformation.

Specific emphasis will be placed on guidelines in clinical practice and the sonographic assessment of the normal fetus at 11- 14 weeks. The contribution of emerging technologies including high frequency linear and Matrix transducers will be presented.

The Role of new and integrated screening strategies for aneuploidy, pre-eclampsia and fetal malformation will be presented including clinical algorithms and guidelines on how to best adopt these new technologies in clinical practice. The Role of non-invasive prenatal screening via free fetal DNA analysis will be discussed and its application in fetal malformation diagnosis outlined during the course.

Lectures will be delivered in an interactive format. Audience participation is voluntary and all open contributions or comments are welcomed over the 1.5-day workshop. Each lecture commences with a series of questions which are also available on line prior to commencement of the workshop. Answers will be provided systematically as lectures cover key aspects of fetal malformation diagnosis.

Lectures will be accompanied by live drawing and schematic sketches outlying key features of fetal malformation at 8-11 weeks’ gestation which will aid attendees to construct a knowledge set of the common and rare anomaly sequences which may be identified during the first trimester
